Women of Influence: A Conversation with Seana Hall

Her days are filled with laughter, creativity, and celebration, where crafts, performances, and even senior proms transform the everyday into something extraordinary. You might never guess this vibrant energy exists within a skilled nursing setting, but that’s exactly the vision Seana Hall brings to life. As Vice President of Life Enrichment for the New England division, she is the driving force behind unforgettable experiences; from lively Spring Flings to once-in-a-lifetime indoor skydiving moments. Through her passion and innovation, Seana cultivates an environment where both short- and long-term residents don’t just reside, they truly thrive.

“I started my healthcare journey in day programs, specifically working with adults with special needs. I worked in a group home caring for five incredible women with diagnoses that included Down syndrome, autism, and traumatic brain injury” Seana states, diving further into her career path start. “I came to Marquis in 2019 and began working at Briarwood as the Activity Director. From there, I transitioned into an admissions and marketing role, and eventually into my current role as Vice President of Life Enrichment.”

Seven years later, Seana always reflects on her “Why” when caring for others. “I became a one to one care assistant for a woman named Tina. Tina had Down syndrome and was later diagnosed with dementia, and caring for her was my first real experience working with someone living with dementia. That experience had a profound impact on me and ultimately led me into working in nursing homes. Tina really put everything into perspective for me. The amount of love she had for people—especially the people caring for her—was unbelievable.” Seana pauses, reflecting on her time with Tina, who has unfortunately passed away. “Being able to bring that level of care, joy, and connection to hundreds of people every single day is incredibly fulfilling. Tina absolutely put it all into perspective for me.”

Seana’s hardworking attitude comes from a previously paved road. Her mother raised six kids, including Seana, and was, in Seana’s words, “doing it all”. “She took us everywhere, made sure we had everything we needed, and made every holiday feel incredibly special”. Seana then mentions Sharon Donaghue, Division President with Marquis, when pondering on who has inspired her in her career. “She truly saw the potential in me and has always supported my big ideas. She’s always been the person who says, ‘Yes, go for it.’ She gives really thoughtful advice—not only as a mom, but also as a healthcare professional—and has helped open my eyes to so many different perspectives, from managing teams to approaching programs and projects.”

As for paying forward the gift of female mentorship, Seana prides herself in the way she leads her team. “I always tell my team that my job isn’t to keep them where they are—it’s to give them the tools, ideas, and mindset to grow, whether that’s within this industry or somewhere else. I try to mentor them, give advice, and sometimes just be there as a sounding board, helping them see things from different perspectives.”

In discussing her team, Seana beams. “When it comes to my life enrichment team, I tell them all the time that I truly could not do my job without them. I’m constantly letting them know how thankful I am for them and how much I appreciate their creativity and everything they do every single day. If people really saw what they do day to day, it would be eye opening—we do a lot.”

Seana is a mother to two small children and works diligently with her husband to foster a home filled with love, connection, and being unplugged. “Family always comes first” she states, adding, “That might mean turning off your work phone or not answering emails once you’re home. When you walk through the door, your attention should be on your family. If you’re constantly on your phone doing work, your kids notice that—no matter what age they are—and it does make an impact.” When thinking on advice for women trying to balance leadership and a family life, her feelings still rely on the need for boundaries. “While you’re at work, go above and beyond. Put in the effort and go the extra mile. But when you’re home, you have to learn how to log off. You have to make time for yourself and for your family, because burnout is real, and it will catch up to you if you don’t manage it.”

Seana’s final thoughts on her Women of Influence nomination would be remiss to not mention the support system under her. “Being seen as a woman of influence is incredibly meaningful, but if we are being honest — this recognition belongs to my family and the teams I work alongside every day. In nursing homes, we don’t just provide quality care — we create homes, dignity, and moments that matter. I’m proud to be part of a profession where compassion is our greatest strength and every day is an opportunity to make someone feel seen, valued, and loved no matter the stage of life they are going through. Nursing homes are not just workplaces—they are where love continues, where memories live, joy takes place and where we have the privilege to make every moment count.”

Originally from Kansas, Seana has spent more than a decade building both her career and a deep sense of home across New England, embracing the distinct charm of Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Southern New Hampshire. In overseeing Life Enrichment teams throughout the region, she draws daily inspiration from their diverse perspectives and shared passion for elevating the resident experience. Blending creativity with unwavering determination, Seana leads with both heart and purpose, an approach that not only defines her work, but firmly establishes her as a true Woman of Influence.
