From humble beginnings to leadership in action, Jennifer Hertzog exemplifies the core of being a leader. With over a decade at Marquis Health Consulting Services, Jennifer steers the sales ship as the Vice President of Marketing and Business Development in the Mid-Atlantic Division. As an inspiring figure for her growing team, Jen never loses sight of what brought her to her position today: compassion.
“My grandmother was both a Director of Nursing and a Nursing Home Administrator.” Shares Jen, adding, “I grew up visiting her in the summers and going to work with her, often spending time supporting the activities department. I knew early on I wanted to work in healthcare as a result. My bachelors degree is in Health Administration as I initially wanted to follow in her shoes as an Administrator, but was exposed early on in my career to a great Community Relations leader who swung me the other direction into sales and marketing!”
Now with over twenty years in the industry, Jen has faced challenges and losses, but also many successes. When looking back, if there’s one piece of advice she would give her younger self, it lies in opportunity. “I would tell her [younger self] to embrace every opportunity with confidence. Opportunities will always present and should be considered, but when her gut tells her it’s the right time to take the leap—do it!” Fearless and dedicated, Jen brings this attitude with her to reach daily goals as a leader. With a large team under her, she is constantly reminded of the importance of culture. “My regional team is diverse in talent and expertise.” Jen shares, continuing, “We do a great job of tapping into and maximizing the background, skill and expertise of everyone to generate strategy, hone skill, and better compete. it’s become a big part of our team culture to win together.”
While it may be true that the sum is greater than its parts, there is still a touch of fierceness that comes with Jen’s tenacity in her role. Over the years she has had to learn the value of accepting criticism, explaining that you have to “always be open to feedback”, adding, “From both my own experience in career growth as well as now in managing others, inability to accept and act appropriately on feedback is a barrier to professional growth.”
Now looking ahead as her female peers trailblaze paths for others in healthcare, Jen reflects on the strategic ways to lift other women up. Suggesting mentorship programs, Jen dives further. “Supportive work environments that empower women to balance professional responsibilities with personal commitments are a few things that come to mind. Women leaders in healthcare a powerful force!”
As a devoted mother and wife, Jennifer Hertzog embodies what it means to lead with both heart and ambition, seamlessly balancing personal joy with professional excellence. Whether she’s cheering from the sidelines at weekend games or commanding the stage at 250-person sales summits, Jen approaches every role with intention, energy, and grace. As a 2026 Woman of Influence, she doesn’t just achieve success; she defines it, inspiring a culture of excellence and empowering others to rise alongside her.
