Program at Baltimore SNF Focuses on Medical, Emotional and Spiritual Support
BALTIMORE, Feb. 24, 2022 — Building on its commitment to quality of life for residents and their loved ones, Westgate Hills Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Baltimore has introduced in-facility palliative care services under the direction of AccentCare, formerly Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care. Located at 10 North Rock Glen Road, the 120-bed skilled nursing facility provides post-hospital care, short-term rehab and long-term residential care.
Palliative care is a specialized medical model for people living with a serious, chronic or life-limiting illness. It focuses on providing the necessary medical, emotional and spiritual support to help relieve symptoms and stress, with the goal to improve quality of life for both the resident and their loved ones. Administered by a trained team of doctors, nurses and specialists, palliative care often accompanies curative treatment.
“This new initiative reflects Westgate Hills’ commitment to providing holistic skilled nursing care services that meet the needs of the Baltimore community,” said Nikki Gachot, regional director of market development for Marquis Health Consulting Services, which supports the facility. “Westgate Hills is pleased to partner with AccentCare, an organization widely known for its compassionate care.”
AccentCare is a national leader in post-acute care with operations in 31 states; in 2020 the company merged with Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care, which has served the Baltimore area community since 1997. “Our work with Westgate Hills further expands access to palliative care in the regional community and supports this respected skilled nursing facility’s focus on enhancing quality of life for residents and their families,” said AccentCare’s Scott Hanel, director of palliative care.
Westgate Hills is committed to serving as a healthcare resource for the families of patients and the local community. Together with Marquis, it has developed a resource library of physician-curated content, addressing many topics of interest for families of patients and the larger community.
